Karen Ritter is the President of Strategic Communications and is our
media specialist. She handles all of our media buying services and
produces television and radio ads, informational videos, billboards,
PowerPoint presentations, direct mail, brochures, newsletters and more.
Karen was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from
1986 to 1994, and is widely known and respected for her strong
leadership and experience in the Pennsylvania House. She was a leading
advocate for working families and earned an AFL-CIO COPE cumulative
rating of 91% on union issues during her legislative tenure.
In addition to her work with Strategic Communications Consultants,
Karen was the host and producer of a one-hour weekly radio talk show
with a progressive and pro-union perspective. The show, called Working
Family Matters, aired on as many as 25 radio stations, including stations
in New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Atlantic City, Baltimore, and
Washington, D.C., and included former Vice President Al Gore as a guest.
Karen’s experience includes strategic planning and general consulting for
non-profits, unions and other organizations.
In addition, Karen’s insight into the inner workings of government and the political process that controls the legislative process makes her a
valuable consultant to, and representative of, any client with public policy
interests. Her experiences as a candidate and elected official also give her
a unique perspective as a communications consultant.
Bob Wolper is the Vice President and Co-Owner of Strategic Communications Consultants and has worked as a lobbyist, government and public affairs specialist, and political consultant since 1977. He attended Temple University from 1969 to 1978, majoring in political science as an undergraduate and public administration as a master’s graduate.
Bob started his public affairs career as a lobbyist, political action committee director, and public relations officer for the Retail Clerks Union of Pennsylvania, now known as the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, Local 1776 KS.
As a lobbyist and communications specialist, Bob has worked on major labor-related issues before the PA General Assembly from the 1980s to the present, first as a staff representative and now as an independent consultant. These issues included job security and job creation legislation, as well as fighting attempts to privatize government agencies.
He has an extensive network of contacts and relationships with state and national union and political leaders.
Bob also has performed strategic planning and general consulting services for Democratic candidates for elected office at the federal, state, and local government levels, as well as for unions and other organizations.
He has extensive experience running educational programs on lobbying, and sets up, monitors, and implements public affairs programs for unions and human service organizations in Pennsylvania and other states, including New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland & Washington.
He has developed political and issue messaging campaigns for unions, businesses, and non-profit organizations, from conception through production and delivery to target audiences.
Bob is the Founder and Director of Rebuilding American Values, a public policy research and advocacy organization (www.RebuildingAmericanValues.org).
Bob also works with firms in new and emerging technologies and in the union benefits fields, helping them develop business opportunities and apply cost savings strategies to the communications needs of unions and businesses.
